About Our Founder…

Don Blanchon is CEO of Wasque Advisors LLC, a strategic consulting firm helping companies and leaders achieve greater impact over time, navigate change and its impact on people and culture, and develop strategies to advance long-term financial sustainability.

Don has served in numerous leadership roles with Whitman-Walker Health System, Whitman-Walker Health, Maryland Physicians Care MCO and Schaller Anderson of Maryland, LLC., and Health Services for Children with Special Needs. His professional journey began as a Budget Examiner at the Office of Management and Budget within the Executive Office of the President.

Don credits much of his leadership development to his passion for fútbol–the beautiful game—which now spans 40 years as a player and coach. He values the lessons learned from teammates, coaches, and opponents along the way. He too relishes in the irony that his childhood home is located in Foxboro, MA—the home of the New England Patriots.

Don has deep roots in Martha’s Vineyard. His grandparents lived there for more than 50 years and his mother and older brother were both born on the Vineyard. During his childhood, Don stayed at his grandmother’s home in Edgartown nearly every August and explored the island on foot and by bicycle whenever possible. He learned the art of surfcasting for striped bass and bluefish at Wasque Point, a special place that continues to cast a spell over Don’s heart.

Don regularly travels to the city of Bilbao in the Basque Country. He loves the Basque people, their cultural identity, and their independent way of life as expressed in art, culture, food, and fútbol. He continues to explore the many similarities between Basque people and New Englanders, and has a long-term dream of opening Wasque Advisors’ international office in Casco Viejo, Bilbao.
